The rain was tapping rhythmically against the windowpane of a small, hidden workshop in Paris, where an old tailor was pulling a silk thread through the lapel of a coat. There was no music, no flashing lights, no cameras. Just the quiet, almost sacred sound of craftsmanship.

A few miles away, inside a glittering flagship store, a neon sign flashed under loud techno music. A young man was handing over his credit card for a jacket that cost more than a flight around the world. On the chest of that jacket, a massive, golden logo screamed for attention.
